Is It Common to Keep Busy While Grieving?

by Jason on January 4, 2013

A big part of overcoming grief is taking action towards life. The busy work you’re describing is just that.

It’s a distraction from the pain, directed in a constructive way. This kind of behavior is completely normal and I commend you for acknowledging your stages of grief because that’s really the first step towards healing. Feel better, comfort will come with time.

While you’re staying busy, try to be as productive as possible. Actions like cleaning, working, engaging in charity are all positive ways to make a powerful, positive impact on your life and the lives of others.

By focusing on the actions at hand, you can turn the negative energy of grieving into a positive force that pushes you forward and puts your mind at ease.

Exercise is a wonderful example of how you can stay busy and improve your own well-being.
